Hey guys,

While my WB is slowly coming back into work, I've offered to take my friends 21 year old Shire mare to a local fun show this Sunday.

While it's nothing serious, I would like to get her looking fab!

As you can see she has a lot of white feathers that are currently brown and green, what products shall I use to get her clean again?

She is very greasy and whilst she is a little shiny, she's not gleaming; I could bath her, but the weather isn't looking great for tomorrow. Would hot clothing her be sufficient?

Sorry for the silly questions, I'm used to an all bay, clean WB!

Thanks for any advice!

Right - feathers I would do with Wahl Diamond White Shampoo, then rinse with Reckkitt's Blue in hot water. Then on the day if there are any stains on them, sponge them off with more Reckitt's Blue in water as hot as you can stand. I would wash and brush out her tail - fairy liquid will do the job on that and cut out the grease. Then give her a Newmarket Scrub rather than a bath.

She's gorgeous! Have fun!

Bucket of hot water with a cup of vinegar in it and hot cloth her. Feathers wash and chalk.

Isn't she grand for her age, she looks like she could trot faster than you might be able to run !! have fun.

Chalk on the feathers and hot cloth the horse. If you do a search on here there are plenty of threads with instructions for it.

I think everyone loves a heavy horse! I'm doing a 5 inhand classes and 1 ridden, she's fantastic to ride, so forward going and soft through her back... then she likes to tank off up the field like I'm not even there!

Thanks for the tips, I'll start cleaning her tonight!
