Tips on Loan/Lease Agreement

Hi Everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on lease agreements. My friend is travelling abroad for a year starting during the summer. She has suggested that I take her horse to ride as my mare is gone in foal. Although we are friends I think it might be best to have something in writing about responsibilties etc. Does anyone have ideas as to what aspects should be included?

Definitely wise to get everything clear, and in writing, so you both know exactly what you expect from the agreement.

I know there is a standard BHS loan agreement - think you can find it on BHS website. I used it, tweeked slightly, when loaning out my daughters' pony. If you have trouble finding it let me know as I think I still have it saved on my comp

I agree - definitely get an agreement so you both know exactly where you stand. I share my friends horse and we have an agreement - so we both know exactly what our responsibilities are and, in the event of an emergency that means said horse needs to be PTS, I can make that decision on her behalf if she can't be contacted.
