One of my biggest problems when riding that i have is when i ask for canter i raise my hands and find it hard to keep them still when cantering. iv tried putting my finger around the neck strap but then i tend to lean forward. Anyone any other tips?

Its pretty easy to create another problem by only temporarily fixing another.... maybe you have to lean forward to reach the neck strap - so hold onto the pommell? Alternatively try holding a whip horizontally under your thumbs when you ride - so you have to keep your hands together, and you have to keep them level.

My RI had me undo the velcro straps of my numnah and make little loops with them and hok my finger through these while riding to retrain my hands to be quieter. Also tied a piece of bailing twine between the D rings of the saddle so I could hook my fingers under and still lean back slightly in the canter. Did that for a few weeks every time I schooled and it made a massive difference
