i have one stable between two horses and my my tb goes in at night and my mare goes in during the day. this is my first winter with my mare. my tb has always been fine with my rugs in there but my mare pull most of them down and poos on them and trashes them. she rubs them down with her body. i dont have anywhere to put my rugs other than my stable. any ideas on what to do. its really frustrating. when she finishes her hayalge and has a snooz thats when she starts rubbing them down. she is food obsessed so im sure food would keep her quiet but i have to watch her weight, i double net as it is to slow her down.
ideas appreciated.

We had a pony that did this. The rugs that they are using are kept on a rail in the stable, and we had to fasten the straps on the rugs while they were on the rail to stop them being pulled down. The pony got bored when it couldn't get them onto the floor and left them alone. This could result in rugs getting ripped if the horse is more determined, so try with an old rug first..

yes in a very small shed. i have about 20 rugs so it would be a tad crowded, looks like il have to invest in another shed and find a home for it.

20 rugs?! Well you won't need your summer ones so take them home out of the way for a start. Just how many do you need for 2 horses for the winter? A turnout and a spare, possibly something like a Thermatex for after work, but not all that amount, you need to be brutal and have a clearout of what's not needed for a start otherwise there's no point our suggesting things for you.
Of course you could always use your mare as a clothes horse and pile what's left on top of her instead of the wall.:)

im a rug horder! but they do all get used. she only pulled one down today which is an improvement! im half hoping shel get bored of pulling them down eventualy.
