I hate wearing gloves but have to whilst riding a dressage test. The reins always slip through my fingers and i end up with long reins!! I have tried a couple of different types of gloves including pimple and leather. Please help?!
Thanks

I have massive issues with reins slipping through my stupidly short stubby fingers so my instructor recommended continental reins. Brilliant, no more washing line rein now!

Make sure you keep your fingers closed on the reins. They can only slip if you open your fingers. On the other hand a horse can snatch them our of your hands.

I'm awful for giving my reins away (or horse pulling them out of my hands) - definitely going to look at some of the reins recommended.

A tip I've been given which focuses more on how to stop slipping the reins is to hold some coppers in your hand and make sure you don't drop them - this just makes you more aware of keeping your fingers closed and not slipping the reins - I've been working on this on the flat and it has made a difference.

Biogrip reins help; I found they were better than dressage reins, and thin enough to look ok even though they are made of rubber.

And you may do this already but make sure your hands are really closed, and squeeze your little finger and ring finger together. Think squeeze from thumb to little finger.

This is where I struggle because I have short fingers that only just reach to a clench when holding reins so my fingers are always slightly open, it's really annoying! I cant use rubber rein as they are too bulky, hence why I go for continental reins now which are great as I hold one of the stops between my 3rd and little finger to prevent the reins slipping out.
