Tired horse - bit worried!

I'm worried that my boy's feeling knackered by what seems not enough to get him that tired, if that makes sense! I took him out two weeks ago and he felt like he'd run out of petrol half way round the SJ course. He was still out 24/7 then so I brought him back in at night, went out again last weekend and he felt much better in the BN, jumped a lovely double clear so I took him in the .95 - and he felt knackered and had four down. My friend's seen him lying down in the field two or three times lately which isn't like him... I've been trying to do more canter work to increase wind fitness but today, after about 20 minutes' flatwork, although he wasn't feeling out of petrol-ish, he was really blowing. I was thinking of upping his hard food (he's on Mollichaff and a full cup of Equilibra twice a day) but that shouldn't affect wind fitness should it? He seems fine in himself but I'm just a bit worried... any ideas? Thank you very much :) (and no idea why my enter key isn't working!)

Would agree blood test probably first port of call although when mine had virus making him very tired he also looked pretty rough. Fairly noticeable something up with him

Mine have both been a bit lethargic of late and I think this unseasonably mild weather may be affecting them. Don't really know whether they're coming or going - 17 degrees yesterday! They both look really well and seem fine just not as lively as I'm used to at level of fitness they're at. Have brought them in now and clipped so will hopefully perk them up a bit. Lockie keen as anything at team chase today so not much up with him clearly!

I know, mad weather isn't it; I keep putting on loads of layers because I'm expecting it to be cold and then roasting!

That's the weird thing; he's fine in himself, as chirpy as normal, eating fine, everything pink that should be, no runny nose or anything, just feels like he's running out of petrol; it's as if he's been in the field for the last six months rather then being ridden five or six times a week!

One interesting thing though; someone who saw him today thought his back might be uncomfortable... I did Equine Touch on him this evening (just done the level one course) and he did flinch slightly under the saddle area so maybe something to do with that...

Something worth considering, may be a little reluctant if sore somewhere

When Fox was getting over virus I used ProPell Plus to give him a lift. Did the trick - in fact when he felt well again ... he was very well .... absolutely buried me in Cirencester Park!! Something like that or Red Cell can be a good tonic if they're just a bit flat
