Wanting to advertise my 3yr old Welsh to a driving home, on loan or LWVTB. Due to me going back to college soon, I will not have the time for him to bring him on

He was a rescue pony and therefore I wouldn't say he's suitable as a childs pony just yet. But with me is a completly good boy, just green. I just think a child could easily give him a scare and knock his confidence. IMO he would look fab in cart and trots beautifully.
I am not in the driving scene AT ALL and just wondered, you guys in the know, what would be the best way to advertise him and is there any real demand for driving ponies at the moment?

Where would be the best places to be advertising?
Hes walked out in traffic etc and doesnt' bother about anything, is lunging well and has been sat on with no fuss. Generally takes things in his stride.

Also If I was to sell him, how much roughly? Thanks

I would say he's worth £350 maybe £450. I think to be a potential driving pony he would need to have been long reined and been in his harness by now.

We start all ours in harness at 2 just messing around and break at 3.

I think you are more likley to be able to sell as a companion or someone who wants to show in hand.

Try putting him on horsemart, or try your local feed merchants saddlers notice boards.

Good luck.

The idea of him going as a companion at three is not something I'd want at all i'm afraid.

He is being long-reined now. Although I understand your post, your honestly saying theres no way he could be a driving pony, because at 3 he hasn't been in harness yet? Even though he has done everything else.

I do have a harness i could borrow to start to get him used to, so i suppose thats the next step.

You can break to harness (or saddle for that matter) at any age, just has different issues. I'd advertise him on carriage link http://www.carriagelink.com , everyone i know uses it, as then your more likely to get a knowlegable home. He does looks the nice sort for driving, plus he'd be easy to match for a multiple. Good luck, i'd have him if it wasn't for uni!

He does look like he'd be a nice driving pony, but until you actually get them broken to harness you can't tell. Some get very upset with the blinkers, the pulling and/or hearing things behind them and it's really important particularly with driving that every thing goes well when you start them off, otherwise if they have a bad experience that frightens them it's unlikely they'll be 100% in a carriage. If you can get him used to the harness and pulling a tyre happily, that's a big step and a fair indication of how he'll be, and he's likely to attract more drivers.

I agree with Ezme that carriagelink is a good site to advertise him on. As for price, I don't know but you could have a look on there and a few other sites to see what his type are going for.

Good luck I hope you find a lovely home for him.

Sorry my post didn't make it clear, yes he could be broken to drive easily but to be sold as a potential driving pony he will need to have done a bit more and will obviously need to go to some one expereinced.
