Hi All

I am considering joining the BSJA to do some jumping with my mare. Not sure of the benefits as I am not hugely competitive so is it worth it? what are the benefits for an amateur like me!!. I am based in the midlands are there alot of shows? i am trying to get my head around the competition structure without much luck
thanks

At BSJA you will generally get a better built course, proper distances etc. If you enter a 1 metre class it will be 1 metre, not like some unaff where it is more like a 90cms class. Also there are more things to qualify for such as scope etc.

I'm guessing you're competing unaff atm? I wouldn't be joining BSJA (thinking of the expense here) unless you are regularly getting double clear/placings etc.

Cheers, yes having competed unaffiliated on pony, now own horse and having considered costs thought it might be a bit more structured with more events to go to than your ordinary riding club type things. Sounds like you have to be pretty good to progress through the comps? still cannot get head round some of the structure of these! ill read on. Thanks though :)

It is worth it if you have teh chance of winning some prize money every now and again.

Although its not all about winning, there is some specialist training available for BSJA members and teh qualitly of comeptition is very much better. There are quite a few things amaetuers can do, perhaps go on a ticket and see how it goes?
