To all those manically busy people.....

Rebel- hmm, normal tired. I don't think I know what that is. I just can't believe how much I want to sleep. At any one point I could just close my eyes and be asleep in 2-5 minutes. I know, because I do it LOL

I think I'm just having a wobble. This morning, the alarm went off, and I just couldn't do it. I got up, went to go downstairs to let my cats out, and wound up on the last step of the staircase sobbing. how ridiculous!!

That is normal for me. So I guess we're either both normal tired or we're both totally overtired. I can always sleep absolutely anywhere at short notice. I view it as a useful life skill :D I was so tired last weekend I walked the wrong way out of the front door and didn't notice until I'd gone half a mile down the road. I then had a mini melt down, with tears, about how tired I am. Now I have a cold so I'm doing even worse this week! Roll on spring!

I frequently hear that comment "how do you do it all" and "dont know where you find the hours in the day" I am a full time student, I work 26 hours over the weekend so have absolutely no soclal life I have two kids, a dog, 2 cats and my OH and a house to run. I still find time to go to they gym too :D

My typical weekday is

Up at 6am
Walk the dog for 45 mins
Shower and get ready
Go to college
Come home from college
Make kids dinner
Go to the yard and exercise horse (hes on full livery atm until April)
come home and make my dinner and OH's dinner
do some housework
Catch up on course work
Bed for 11pm

My weekend is

Up at 6.30
Shower and ready for work
start at 9am
finish at 9pm
Home for 10 relax for half an hour and they go to bed cause I have to do it all again the next day.

I wont know what to do with myself when I finish college :D

Up at 530
at yard for 545
muck out 2, turn out 3, waters, hay
back home for 7 and get dressed
leave for work 7.35
at desk for 8.
Leave work at 6.
Arrive at yard 6.30/45
Ride one, skip out, more hay, make feeds
Home 7.30 (earliest)
bath, OH cooks, eat, sofa, tv, zzzzz

I actually wonder what other people do all day, as far as I can tell it involves:

Monday to Friday morning
faffing about before work putting make up on and generally doodling about
going to work
getting home from work
making tea/sitting watching telly/drinking wine
going to bed

Friday night
get drunk
be sick (optional)

Saturday
Wake up around midday
Eat a fry up/mcdonalds
Go out get drunk

Sunday
repeat as for Saturday, possibly substitute pub lunch for mcdonalds
cook a roast dinner - tell everyone about it on facebook
go to bed

then on Monday complain how tired you are all day at work. Stare at me in disbelief when I describe what I did "oh my god how do you fit all that in" etc.

Sounds rubbish :p

ETA: being able to fall asleep at 2 minutes notice is an excellent skill to possess, I pretty much never get bored :)

I can't quote on this silly thing; only one person at a time.

Thank you so much for everyone's input, it is really appreciated.

Kaiko- exactly, support in numbers. My OH works until 10pm at night, so i go and get him then, as there is no parking at his work- though admittedly it's a ten min drive each way so not far.

Aintgotnohay- that is completely what a little voice in my head is saying. And it frightens me.

So, accordingly to quite a few of you, Berocca is the way forward? We have got a tube, maybe I will start taking it :) How long do we estimate for it to kick in?

I think I'm just having a wobble. This morning, the alarm went off, and I just couldn't do it. I got up, went to go downstairs to let my cats out, and wound up on the last step of the staircase sobbing. how ridiculous!! My partner came downstairs when the cats didn't charge upstairs, and told me to go back to bed. he isn't starting till 2pm today so he went off to do the horses and has even ridden one so I don't have to tonight.

I didn't make it to my boot camp exercise class this morning either :( Feel absolutely pathetic, but was so tired last night I couldn't think straight. Thank god for boyfriends who are as generous as mine!

I thought my comment was a bit hard-but i just wasnt enjoying my horse anymore-manic was my life from waking to sleeping.my horse got good home now with peeps who have time.get your life back before you dont have a life to get back.sell your horse, slow down and take things easy or cut other things out in your life so you can enjoy your horse without it been a chore.personally best thing i ever did was getting out of horse ownership.bought nice new car on hp with money i was paying out for horses keep.

Replying from my phone so apologies if this seems a bit disjointed. Am not going to put my daily normal routine down on paper. It scares me & i have a baby on the way and fitting it all together does worry me a lot. And to answer your original question yes i frequently wonder if it is sustainable. Two things strike me - one, go see your gp. Turned out when i was last at your point, i was very badly anaemic and iron tablets made a huge difference.

Second, if you're like me i find saying no to people, activities etc. I'm having to learn to get a lot tougher. Ironically part of my job is actually supporting people with busy lives to get better at handling their time. We normally start by getting them to write down their day in detail -and getting them to explore the bits they really enjoy, the bits that stress them out the most and then asking questions such as what can you hand over to another person? What can you legitimately say 'no' to? What are the crunch points? What causes these crunch points? What can you do to prevent them or have a contingency plan in place in case you can't manage it? Am happy to chat it through with you via pm if you want... But bear with me as am due to have baby at any time now so am a little

...Busy at the moment (stupid phone). Chin up it is do-able but sometimes it takes people to recognise that too much is too much and work through practical solutions that they're happy with. :-)

OMG I'm loving this thread - thank god I'm not the only one feeling like this!

I get up at 3:45 am, work at a livery yard for 5/6 hours in the morning then I go home, sort my three horses and three dogs out then work on my business all afternoon, then back to sorting out my lot again and then do some more work on my business in the evening.

I have a two bed house to look after, barely time to feed myself, family and friends moaning at me that they never see me and now I have a new bf so when I manage to make time to see him I'm barely getting 2 hours sleep a night lol :D:D:D

To say I'm feeling run down is an understatement! I'm running on red bull and have had cold after cold - it's just getting ridiculous!

We are indeed superwomen ;)

Llanali, my life is similar to yours (including commuting) except that I'm on my own - in someways you may think that's easier, but actually it means that not a single thing is done unless I do it.

I seem to work flat out to keep a lovely horse and home but never really have the time to enjoy either. I am forever on the run - the only time I sit down is on the train and then I immediately fall asleep.

I too wonder how I can go on like this - I'm getting older and life isn't getting any easier.

I know no different so just plug on through until spring and summer arrive!
My winter routine is:

5am - alarm goes off, feed dogs and cats
5.30am - leave for yard, turn out 2 horses, muck out, top up water and hay
7am - leave yard, go home, wash and change make myself faaairly presentable and leave for work

7.30am - arrive at work (primary school teacher)
5.30 - 6pm - leave work and go home, get changed, head down yard
6.30pm - ride one of my horses (floodlit school, I alternate them to keep them both going), feed, walk dogs

8.30pm - home, tea, shower
9.30pm - bed!

Poor hubby!!!!!

Ooh the other thing I forgot to add which I have found a godsend this year is one of those Lumi alarm clocks. Recommended to me by several friends it really does make getting up that little bit easier...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lumie-Bodyc...XEAI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329407611&sr=8-1

I must be the only person that finds our sunrise alarm useless. I still am shattered and can't get out of bed. That could be because our house is cold, the duvet is always practically wrapped around my head, though!

Well I thought I was a busy person but now I feel like a couch potato! I have one full time job, completely normal hours and I am usually late :o. One horse and a shetland, I claim I never have time to ride. No dogs, 2 cats who I really can't claim to take up any time. I do manage to cook fairly decent meals and keep a relatively nice house, the garden gets away from me sometimes and keeping the horses at home equals lots of extra chores. But I nearly fell out with my MiL who said her daughter had to "get someone in" to do the garden at her house. It is the size of a stable, I kid you not. She works 3 days a week and has one child, and no other responsibilities, pets or hobbies. Honestly, horsey people just seem to have a hard-work ethic that doesn't exist in others

here is a thought for all those people who like me run round like a headless chicken!

1. eating a large meal late at night will not help with the weight, try swopping for a large lunch and then a small tea. but make sure you eat a big brecky (not fry up!) in the morning.

2. i have had to stop coffee as i could not switch off my brain enough to sleep i only sleep about 5hr at night sometimes 3hr. try to detox but i would suggest only when you are off from work for a bit, it can feel like a bad hangover.

3. those lumi alarm clocks make a lot of difference for me, forget to put it on and the 5am start is really bad not just bad.

4. i changed my routine, only skip out in the week and add extra bedding and muck out once in the weekend, saves time and bedding for me.

5.cooking, this is what the freezer is for, make 3 times as much as you need and pop the extra portions in the freezer, do remember to label (i had a couple of interesting meals:) ) just take one out the morning as you leave and tea is quick in the evening or a slow cooker, it will be ready for when you get home.

6. try and give yourself a bit of me time even if it only a book and a bath

7. a bit of exercise does make the difference, it doesn't have to mean going to the gym maybe trotting for 20 min in the school, the horse is fitter and your heart rate goes up
