Just to say, to any vets who are working over the Christmas period, a huge thank you for being there just in case.....

So I think I can speak for everyone on this forum when I say that no matter how much we love you, we hope we don't get to see you ;) ! and we wish you a very happy Christmas :)

Personally I could have called the vet out today, but decided against it, so fingers crossed things go as planned and we don't need to rethink that one  (and Imogen if you are reading this, seeing as you are as likely to be at my yard as anyone else's, there's a spare place at my table x).

:D lol - yeah it'd be me until the 27th!!! :D
Hope things are ok for you all over the festive time!!!! In the nicest way possible we don't really want to see your horses (how ever lovely we think they are) until weds next week at least!!!

HAPPY XMAS AND NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Yes, I would also like to say a HUGE thank you to all the vets who will be on call this Christmas and for all their work during the past year.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

My thank you is to Rossdales and my vets.

My 8 month old had an emergency op yesterday - related to the colic surgery she had in October and was really ill yesterday morning. Rossdales have done a blinding job and she's back on her feet, fever gone and looking a million times better than when we got her there yesterday morning. Eating and shouting to come home!

Our own vets came out promptly as normal and even called yesterday evening to make sure that everything was ok. We know that whatever the problem is, they will come out - however much I feel like I'm being paranoid. They where professional when our mare (the foals mum) was dying in August and again when we lost my beloved Mistletoe in November, let alone the numerous call outs that I now owe a fortune for (insurance doesn't cover oldies or when the insurance runs out). I know they get paid for it but sometimes its a really thankless job.

Whatever the time of day or night, I'm lucky as there is a professional at the end of the phone. I appreciate it and hope we give them a trouble free Christmas and new year!!

And because I appreciate them so much, its essexhorsevets.co.uk - Conor Fenelon & Kate Johns, plus Rossdales who I am grateful to!! So Thank You!

i am also hoping not too many of you need a vet this xmas - i would like a nice, peaceful time!

Happy Christmas and good health to all you animals!

Hear hear. My vets are Dyffryn Tywi Equine Clinic and they are superb. They will come out any time anywhere and their care for my veteran Sunny with deteriorating COPD/RAO has been second to none. If they had owned him themselves I wouldn't have had a more immediate, understanding and compassionate service. And echo a cheer for the staff too -the office staff have laughed and cried with me over the phone and honest to god they all feel almost like family. You rock Lisa and Phil xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My OH just pointed out one advantage of being a vet - he never has to cook Christmas dinner!

Either he's working, in which case I cook, or we're invited somewhere, or we go to the parents and they cook. Or this year he's broken, so we can't go away, but I still have to cook!

Here's hoping for a nice quiet one, with black, gritted roads anywhere you need to go!

I agree with Angelbones. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Imogen for alll her help over these last few weeks, with not just my problem with my beagle bitch but also the problems she has helped on posters with. It is really nice to see a vet helping people with advice, so many vets like to switch off completeley when the finish work and who can blame them!

I'd also like to say thank you to each and everyone of you that have ever helped me or offerred me comforting words in 'my hour of need'. Thanks to this wonderful forum I have made lots of new friends and learnt an awful lot. Thank you all. :)

A very Merry Christmas to all vets and their staff with a big shout out to the Leahurst Equine Practice.........many thanks for 2010 and I look forward to NOT seeing you in 2011 (except for vaccinations ;) )

i would also like to thank my vet for the amazing work they have done with toby. my vet has given me her own personal mobile number and i have to phone her if i am worried about toby. so thankyou to the equine veterinary clinic Houston Glasgow

Thankfully we haven't needed our vet today but I know they'd have come if we needed them. I admire vets a lot, they have not only got to have skills with the horses but also with panicky owners (like me!)

Happy Christmas to my fab vets at Thames Valley Equine :D especially as dear Harry came in with a mahooosive hock on Christmas eve and they have still been as prompt as ever- even sent a "Happy Christmas and let us know if we are needed" text this morning :D:D
