Are you friggin mental? There was a post on a sled dog forum asking for urgent help for a 10 minth old girl in our local pound whose time was running out, as we are looking for anogher malamute I replied as ad didnt say if she was husky ir mal. I said I was only interested in a mal but if it was that urgent we would take her as a temp foster until the rescue found somewhere for her. Well she came over about 5pm last night and is insane! I just dont know how you guys have this level of crazy in your lives, the OH thought she would make a nice running companion for him but aparently not. Give me my mellow mals any day, anyone who confuses the breeds is welcome to come and visit and see my placid calm obedient can go off lead mal vs this luny husky thing. Seriously hats off to those of you that have huskys I can definitely say they are not for me.
 
Shes ten months, she's just come from the pound and god knows where before that, she's not been with you more than a day... She will be crazy.

My husband always laughs at me - we got a 14 month old lab that had had 4 homes before us, he was nuts the first few days, and the first night I sat on the sofa saying "OMG what have we done! He'll have to go back" four years later he is still with us and a lovely dog.

Give her a break and a little time, you might change your view completely, and you husband. (But it was lovely of you to take her in the meantime).
 
No mental cases here, I've got one curled up on my feet and one doing snoring dead spider impressions on the floor. However as above, if you stuck them in the pound for a week and then plonked them in a new home they'd probably be pinging off the ceiling for a while. :p
 
Oh bless her. Husky's are fabulously demanding, affectionate, pack orientated dogs. I would not be without mine! We have moments of madness followed by long naps - we've just turned 1 year old. They mellow with age, I am led to believe, but we like the activeness of the breed and that's why we chose him. And there is nothing like having a conversation with them and listening to them 'sing'. They are hilarious. Love 'em and would never be without one now. xxx

ETA: So far this evening mine has been asleep since about 8pm, just went out for a little run around the garden for about 20 mins, and is now fast asleep in his crate in full swirl mode. I'm sure yours will calm down with some firm but kind leadership, a bit of love, and security in surroundings. If nothing else, live in hope that the rescue folks find somewhere for her soon!

They are definitely more nutty than the malamutes I will fully agree with you there but give her a chance she will settle bless the little whirlwind.
One thing wrong with this post though, where are the pics lol
 
Don't get me wrong I know its all new, exciting, worrying and a bit much for her but the "catch me if you can" game when she is in the garden is just a bit much when I am needing to leave for work. she also doesn't listen to the mal when he says "go away!" and bless he has a bad tummy at the moment (off to vets to check its nothing serious today). I do feel sorry for her poor girl having been passed from pillar to post and she is a really friendly girl with absolutely no malice at all, if she stays long enough will get some consistant training into her but part of me thinks she just needs to get into her forever home asap otherwise she will have yet more upheaval when she leaves here if she is here too long. Anyway she is here until a home or longer term fosterer is found. Sorry cyrus no pics as yet as every movement from me to pick up camera etc leads to her bouncing again so cant get her to stay still long enough for a photo.
 
Lol..see I love the (catch me if you can games) my mams husky is a champion of this game and its hilarious, esp when its other people trying to get him in lol...otherwise he is not a pick of bother but he is a huge character...she looks very pretty bless her.
 
She was calmer again last night so thats good, sadly the mal still doesn't like her and growls everytime she gets close, he wasnt too bad on day 1 so putting it down to his poorly tum but he is looking brighter this morning so hopefully over the next few days he might feel well enough to want to play. Just a reminder though to any husky lovers looking to add to their pack she does need a new home:wink3::wink3:
