Buying trad cob a dressage saddle. It will be bespoke with the option of bling. She is a trad cob though and I wonder if it would be best kept plain. She has a fancy brow band though.Thoughts

I like a bit of bling, my horse has a princess browband, and glitter OR boots for the field!
However, I think with such a big purchase I’d be inclined to keep it smart and simple.
I can and at some point will probably go off my brow band and swap for something else. A saddle is a long term commitment!!

I’d go plain too but that’s just me - or see if there’s an option that you can interchange? Maybe a bit of bling on the leather keepers that can be swapped for plain ones should you want to change it up for any reason? I know some saddles have a plate on the back that can be removed and swapped so maybe something like that?

Very good idea

Well, my DH, as many of you will know, is an old school Saddler.

The closest he has been to adding 'bling' on his saddles is some black patent leather and white welting! (a customer's special request). All of his saddles are very traditional.

Adding bling is a very personal thing, and, if you decided to sell on in the future , it may well affect the resale value. Some saddles I see for sale second hand are quite frankly a bit...🤨

Fair enough.Think I might skip the bling.

I too would've skipped any bling on a saddle and kept it very plain. Saddle pads, browbands and miscellaneous other things you can easily change can be blingy, but I personally wouldn't want it on a saddle.
