I bought my horse in to ride this morning, and although he trotted over for his breakfast earlier ok, and was sound when ridden yesterday, was uncomfortable on his near front foot on the yard. He is bearing weight on it but would say is noticeably lame. He was moved onto a new paddock yesterday, which is quite hilly, so just wondering if he has slipped/strained something in the excitement of the move, as the grass was very wet.
There are no visible lumps or bumps, or heat, and he has showed no reaction to the hoof testers.
I have the farrier coming on Tues, and will speak to my vet tomorrow too, but in the meantime is he best on box rest or turned back out whilst I wait for somone to come and look at him?
What would you guys do?
Thanks

I would put him out.
Doesnt sound serious, maybe he has bruised his sole on a stone.

More chance of him getting swollen legs standing in.

firstly , he problem has spained something , if you have access to a stable to keep him in then thats a bonus , because you can limit the amount he runs ,or walks on it ,which will problem help hill it quicker , i would hose down working from the shoulder to the bottom of hoof even if there is no sign of heat this will give relief in the pain department , if you have any also give him ,some bute , for pain relief ,but also what i use and is brilliant stuff for minor sprains etc is

if you find he gets worse or doesnt get any better them i would consult a vet
