Well will try to keep this short...

I have always had 3, my old gelding (semi-retired), my mare that I compete and the lil companion pony. After many years of advertising the pony I have managed to sell her (she was a pain always getting out and needing restricting during summer). So am left with two, so am wondering whether to purchase a youngster which will be my next horse (hopefully). I have a sharer for my gelding so worry about my mare being left on her own, she can be abit of a silly thing :( plus not sure she would let sharer catch her to put her in etc.
OH wants me to wait until next year, first he siad til after we've been away end of august, but now he says next year.
I've been looking for awhile now but nothing has really caught my eye. There is sooo much choice of breeds  i'm not sure what to go for
I've never actually had the ultimate choice when buying as mum bought my gelding and although I had a choice with my mare it was still ultimately upto my mum but now it's just me and a non-horsey OH :p
I also probably won't be in the market to buy another one for quite a few years so I want to make sure I get it right. I'm probably being abit fussy in that I would like a dun/buckskin or possibly a spotty and I don't have a huge budget.
Not really sure why i'm posting I guess looking for some helpful tips or advice
There's just soo many different ones :)

Tbh I can afford to spend more just don't want to :o Only spent £300 on current mare and she is amazing if alittle opinionated ;) But she is what you would call a mongrel and was only 6 months old. I guess i'm alittle out of date with prices of horses as well.
What sort of breed would you go for? I'm looking for a fairly uncomplicated horse after my mare, that's not so spooky or silly at times :o I guess hard to judge as they will be young and unridden.
Just realised I spelt title wrong whoops :)

You asked 'what would you do?' - I would buy a youngster or foal. That would be a very foolish and expensive and silly thing to do - but its what I would do! I have a 2YO who I bought at 6 months and he has cost me twenty times what any adult horse would, but its spread over a longer period so you dont notice it so much!

What SHOULD I do? Like soulfull says, wait and save up to get something more suitable and gorgeous.

Why not? If you can afford it and a youngster can be great companion!

I won't suggest a breed, I'm too biased and stuck on one breed.

Thanks for your replies :)
tobiano I've had my mare since she was a baby and although did cost alot to break I think she has been worth it. Nice to watch them grow up and know everything about them. :)
I've found a few I like but am unsure if they're abit expensive for what they are? This one for example http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/clas...&height__unit=4902&colour=4888&age__unit=5497
as he will need castrating as well.... :)

OMG he is GORGEOUS! IMHO he is a bit expensive but probably worth it, if you want something posh. Pretty sure you would be able to get a much cheaper one of a similar colour but - yep - I would be going to see that Connie x TB!!

I am leaning towards a connemara x , unfortunately he is miles away and i'm not supposed to get one til after holiday. Would like to end up with something like this ... http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/clas...all/launceston/junior-event-horse-395447.html although probably won't need one which will jump quite so big lol although that's a bonus :D

Well he's only up the road from me - let me go and see him for you!!

I think he's absolutely gorgeous, and Connie/TB crosses are quite popular as they seem to be very atheltic, suited to many disciplines and willing to learn. You also get the height with the crosses that you may not get with a pure Connemara.

I'm a Section D fan myself, and mine's quite big, standing at 15.2 1/2 at the moment with possibly another inch to go, but again, their crosses are very popular for a good alll-rounder if you don't want a purebred.

The foal seems quite expensive to me too - is that because he's viewed as a potential stallion?

I didn't see the link for the eventer. Nice.

I didn't like the filly either, I know if wasn't a good photo, and maybe that's part of what put me off, but I don't like the way she's put together.

I'll meet you somewhere if you like and we could view the foal together.......? :) :) :)

Thanks for the offer Chunkie :) am holding off viewing anything for now but if you're close and want to be nosey ;) although I think he's abit more than I want to spend looking at budget of about £1000. :)
Nothing wrong with mares but OH doesn't want me having another mare although I think he'd rather I stuck with two anyway, but I think 3 is a more manageable number ;)
Have also found this ad again miles from me :( http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108736172/golden-buckskin-sport-horse-foals.html :)
