I live in the states and am moving 1100 miles away. My horse will be transported over a course of a few days. We are going across the southern part of the states (Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, etc) and am worried in the 90-100+ heat in a trailer if he'll overheat. He has about 50/50 winter summer coat right now and am unsure if I should just clip him, and also he'll be 24/7 turn out so am unsure if it's safe to do so.

Would it be possible to travel at night when cooler?
I would clip and be prepared to rug if necessary if you have bad weather when you arrive. I believe most horses acclimatise fairly quickly. Good luck with the move.

Thank you, and unfortunately I have to use a transport company so it's an all day thing and I'm unsure if they'd be willing to blanket. But I don't think it'll be getting too terribly cold in the night. I'm also concerned because my horse refuses to drink during moving sometimes, someone recommended putting Gatorade in his water!
