To clip or not to clip, feathers or no feathers? Pic for votes

I always think with cobs clipping and hogging go together. Are you taking his mane off too? Has he filled out any since the video?

I'm not sure about his mane legs is a start but mane is another story I love and hate it at the same time lol
And YESSSS he has filled out a lot since this video, he was a stressed horse at the end of winter in this video I just don't have any pics on a URL , he is looking much better, not a rib in site and we are working on muscle now :) xx

I'd take the feathers off for summer. Even if you do it just the once, then you'll know how he looks and if he likes it. I don't think I could resist if I had a fluffy footed beastie!

He has good feathering starting behind the knee so I'd leave them. If they were scrappy I'd say take them off.

I dont know why anyone would leave the feathers on if they are bothering him, so feather off, mane and tail pulled. Dont hog unless hes got a much more substantial front though.

I clip feathers off on our coblet. I do it with clippers but held away from the leg and sometimes with a metal comb to try and keep it natural looking!
Ours isn't heavy so minus his feather he just looks like a sportier model rather than cob with clipped legs, so I leave his mane (well
It's pulled short but not hogged)

Mine is similar and I've taken his feathers off this year for the first time, largely to allow access to his scabby, greasy legs. He won't tolerate mane pulling and I didn't want to hog it (it's my neck strap substitute) so his mane is scissored short. However, after an eye infection last year, I've left his forelock longish to act as nature's fly fringe. Can you tell that looks are not terribly important for us? However, I'm growing to like the clipped legs - he looks more like the racecob that he thinks he is - and it is certainly easier to keep his legs healthy.

I've just ordered some more sedative so I can redo his legs (clipping is another major trauma) so, yes, they will grow back quite quickly if you don't like the look of them clipped!

Off if they are bothersome. My boy has a problem with feather mites so his legs are clipped, it has made a massive difference. My girl has quite scruffy feathers I am taking them off this weekend.

When I had a cob I always clipped feathers, firstly because I think it looks smarter but it's also so much easier - no spending hours trying to get dreadlocks and mud clumps out of feathers especially in winter! I don't usually like the look of hogged so I'd probably leave that on.

I'd clip and i would also be having a go at that mane and tail. I think if you left the mane and tail long like that with clipped legs he would look a bit wrong?!

Noooooooooo you can clip a horse's feathering or just clip his feather - just not his feathers:)

Yes agree you are right. Dogs have feather as well.

I've gone from hair to not hairy to hairy again. This is over 2.5yrs and personally I think she looks gorgeous every way.

Normally I would say leave but in this case would take them off if only to have a good rummage about to see what is bothering him. One of mine has heavy feather and is not bothered at all so there might be something going on.

He's a lovely boy, the beach ride looked great fun.

I have a coloured cob, hes finer than yours a slight bit but after 3 years of clipping his legs i'm letting his grow back for the first time. He looks smart clipped but i've forgot what he looks like with feather. I think i'd leave them. Hes a little to chunky unless you hog him as well.. a very nice cob.
