I have just bought a gorgeous connemara cross who was having no feed with previous owner. He is in good condition, weight wise and doesn't need any feed at all.
I have kept this the same for the past 10 days since he came to me, but was wondering if anyone feeds a low cal chaff with an apple or carrot just to say thank you for the ride, (sounds ridiculous when I put it in writing). I want him to enjoy coming in and have always given my horses a small dinner at night.
How many calories would a small handful of chaff be?? Obviously don't want him to gain weight . Anyone else feel the need to give a small dinner or is it just me. He needs no supplements and plenty of grass so there is no real need.
