Am considering buying another horse (Im mad!).

I work stupid hours, so cant do DIY. Cant really afford Full. So the options are:

1. Dont buy horse

2. Grass Livery
3. Not sure, any suggestions helpful.

The horse as posted previously is not suitable currently to share or working livery as needs work and sharp.

Is grass livery a good option? What are people opinion? thanks

im considering grass livery at the moment. my boy loves being out and he's a good do-er in the cold. I would only do it if there is enough grazing avalible so that the fields arent hammered all year round and are able to get enough rest. Also would want a field shelter so that he has the option to get out of wind/snow/rain/sun if he wants.

Ive just downgraded my horse to grass livery so I could get another. My first was recovering from a tendon injury so i bought another to fill the 18 months. Couldnt afford both on part livery and the yard i was at didnt do grass so had to move, best thing i did!
Dont think i would go back to stabling now unless i really had to!

Ours live out and seem to love it. One is 27 this year and as long as he is well rugged/fed he is perfectly happy. Our mare hates being in.
The only one in is our young cob but he arrived looking like a hat rack with lice so he cant mix yet.

grass livery of course - its natural, horses like it too - i work full time and my mare lives out - i have a stable but its more for me so i can fuss her in the dry if its raining. Depending on where you keep your new horse, you will get to know other peeps who will check your horse or whatever and you do the same for them - go for it!

Grass livery is a great option, as long as they land is ok all year round then why not.
Alot of horses are perfectly happy living out all year round as long as they are fed, watered and have the rug that suits, or no rug at all even.
As long as you can afford the grass livery, plus all the rest, then why not.
My girl is on grass livery as our stable is not built yet, even when it is built we will barely use it, she likes being out, as long as she is fed. I am hoping that next year I can afford a second if I can get a job that pays more as my girl is getting older and has lameness issues.

So, I say if you can afford the extra horse at grass livery then why not

It would depend on what other facilities the yard had if I was going to make that decision. Are there stables that you could use if the horse had to go on box rest? Is there a suitable space to exercise the horse in all weathers? What kind of storage will you have for hay, rugs etc.

I'd love grass livery but I go for DIY because I'm yet to find grass livery in this area that has the other facilities that I need.

Grass livery is a good option. I own 3 so full livery is out of the question and even with DIY I don't think I would have time to go to work! Mine have managed fine this winter and I know if I have to start work early or finish late my horses are happily out in a herd and I'm not having to rush or panic about getting to get to them.

My pony is on grass livery & I really wouldn't want to go back to being stabled now! As long as they have enough hay (ours have round bales) and shelter / well rugged they are fine.

Mine shares a field with one other - we poo pick every other day at least so our field is spotless and well looked after which helps.
