To hog or not to hog: more sellable with a long mane?

Before, having bogburnt and chewed off the front of his feathers.

I REALLY like him bald :D

He was SOOOOOOO good to do: D just stood loose with the rope hanging. He's only been clipped once (just a bib) and never his legs etc. He thought it was a big tickly but stood so quietly.

But I wasn't quite brave enough to take the mane off :o Yet.

Leave it on if he was mine

at the end of the day you can not stick it back on and then its up to people who buy him as to what they want to do

He looks very sweet with his locks

Right - I was one of the 'don't you dare' brigade but now you have done the legs I think they look brilliant! Very smart. Now you HAVE to take the mane off. It's all or nothing. He will look fab and he needs a smart new haircut to match his sexy legs. Wish I was brave enough!

How old is he? Depends if he has more filling out to do :) I like cobs with mane/feathers off... Will find some pics of mine with and without!

Having said this I don't think he has quite enough neck and he is small for a show cob. BUT I do think he'd have a REALLY nice head with all his beard and forelock off :)

Ditto this!! Make him grow 3 inches? :( he'd be a STUNNING show cob :(

I agree with this in part but if you take that beard off it will balance the neck....?

I'm always in TEAM HOG IT ......... but in this case I think it suits him with the mane. Also means any purchaser has the option to hog should they wish...

Not helping! The problem is I'm NOT brave enough :o

He's only 5yrs old and has gone bum high again. But at maybe-not-quite 14.3 ish he's never going to make 15.1 :( Or 15.3 and teaching him to crouch, as per most show cobs ;) . He's also on a diet as he's fat and needs to loose a little more belly and rib-covering!

His beard needs to be 'sculpted'. He looks really long in the face and silly with it just chopped off :o

If you do hog him, do the rest of him ie chop his tail much shorter, get rid of the beard etc. one the manes gone you have to do the rest or it looks very odd having a bald horse with a wacking great beard.

A hogged mane would put me off buying but if I liked a hogged look I don't think it would bother me as I would know I could hog it fast!
