Lots of sun cream will be needed then, if you keep her hogged. Getting burn has stopped Hattie's mane growing in places.

She does go out in a full fly sheet with neck attachment in summer anyway, so hopefully that will help.

I sunblock her face as it is.

What breed of horse is Patches? She is quite lovely.

She's a heinz 57 I assume. I have absolutely no idea of her breeding at all. She's "just a cob".

Thank you for your compliment. I've always thought she was lovely, but then I am a bit biased.

Crumbs!!

I was planning on voting "no", but I am sooooo glad I didn't! She looks absolutely stunning hogged.

I don't like it. She doesn't look like Patches anymore. Everyone seems to think it suits her, but I'm not sure I like that wrinkly look they get on their neck when hogged. Bit yak if you ask me.

I almost cried after I hogged Chex the first time, I was so gutted by how it looked. But after a few weeks I really liked it

(until I changed my mind again lol).

ETA I think she looks good, its always risking taking off their forelock but she carries it well, doesn't look like a bruiser

you`ve joined the club.

i have limited time and i would rather spend more time on body-brushing than fiddling about with a mane.
my cob also has a v thick tail that used to take ages but since i bought a rake to give her the pulled look and thined it out i think she is much smarter.(i didnt used to like pulled tails but now i think they are the buisness)

i love patches.

Just seen this and voted yes, then went on to see that you had gone ahead and done it! I think she looks very smart, although probably I would go the whole hog (so to speak) and clip her out completely, including legs.

You will soon get used to it!

She looks super!

But to complete the 'show cob' look, I think you need to remove the remaining feather from her legs - it's rather spoiling the clean-cut look at the moment.

JMHO!

Oh I will. She'd just had enough today and wouldn't let me clip her legs. Needs two of us and a twitch to get below her knees. I'll reserve that for another day.

I haven't voted and normally I hate hogged necks, but she really looks fantastic.

A hogged mane always looks better after a week or so...you'll get used to it I'm sure

I've said no but not because she'd look silly, infact I think she'd look smart.
But, because, we hogged a mare with sweetich - she was a coloured and where her white was she had pink skin. This meant that we had to plaster her with high factor suntan lotion or she'd get badly sunburnt - turned out to be a real nightmare.
