This is my gelding Mac. He was hogged when I got him 5 years ago and I grew it back. I hogged him again on a whim about 2 years ago and let it grow back pretty much straight after, but this unruly mess is driving me mad!

1st poll so sorry if it doesn't work properly.

Sorry pics aren't great, taken on phone! He is 16.1, but very chunky. The mane had been pulled about 3 days before the pics were taken. It is so thick, although he has a weedy tail.

Here is a hogged one from a few years ago, although it is growing back.

I'd say take it all off, feathers and all. I agree it is hard to say aith the pictures, but he seems to be a nice chunky sort with a decent neck that should carry it off, just make sure you post some before and after pictures if you decide to go for it.

Normally I go with hog but looking at he picks the neck he has I'd say grow and if he does have lovely blonde locks, I'd just tidy it up and be patient as it will come nice eventually

I used to hog my horse (he's 3/4 ID) and he looked really smart! I don't bother ATM as not riding a lot and not competing but if I was I'd have the lot off tomorrow.

Only if you are going to also clip legs, and bang his tail - just like I have threatened to do with Dolly. If you not, leave him as a hairy scruff bag.

Don't have hogged mane and leave the tail long and feathers on - looks awful - not one thing or the other.

I would so thin it out from the underneath with a thinning comb and take off his feathers he has a lovely coloured mane you should keep it! My d had a thick unruly mane with the proper attention it is lovely now

hog, and take forlock off too and feathers! he will look sooo handsome! ooo and send me the other horse in that picture please!

Not normally a fan of hogging, but in his case, I think he looks good hogged. keep the feathers though.
