Ok, my boy is a piebald gypsy bred cob with a Welsh cob sire. He's not a heavy traditional but has a mane that has to have a running plait rather than individual ones. We have done quite well at local level showing as a traditional but I've always felt he would do better if he was either a lot hairier or trimmed. I plait his mane for dressage and mane&tail for hunting. We do a bit of everything, lots of hunting in winter.

I never thought I'd say this but... I'm thinking of turning him in to a hogged cob! He's not got lots of feather this year and seems determined to scratch his mane out (he has tufts at the bottom and a chunk of the middle came out tonight!). Any thoughts?

Pics are here - I tried to put some in here but can't figure out how to do it on my phone :( Please ignore me, I look awful in every picture ever!

He is a very itchy beast and is always hot, summer and winter. I just don't know if I'm brave enough to do it lol! I'm sure it will suit him, I'll have to measure his bone tomorrow. Maybe if I got someone else to do it whilst I'm in work so I can't chicken out, then I'll just see the results... :)
