To hose or not to hose?

I don't hose the mud and have had both my cobs turned out for most of the winter with no mud fever. I agree with Leviathan if I check their feathers the skin underneath is actually dry, if I hose them I am making the skin wet.

I wouldnt recommend introducing any water (whether hosing or shampooing) unless you have the time or facilities to dry them completely. I would use a product such as silky manes by NAF or Absorbine Show Sheen sprayed onto legs every other day, as any made that finds its way on there simply brushes off. this works on my TB, my Welsh D and my shetland! :-)
