I am trying to sell one of my horses - won't go into details as don't want to get told off for advertising.

The horse has a couple of small occult sarcoids on his inner thigh, the flat scaly type, and has had them since I have owned him (5 yrs) and have never given cause for concern.

Being an honest seller I have mentioned them in the ad and have priced him accordingly, but am not getting a huge reponse. The ironic thing is that they may not even be picked up on a vetting as are now hidden by his winter coat.....!!

Do you think that this is just a reflection of the current market, or that I have put people off before they even enquire and should remove the detail from the ad, and only mention when I receive an enquiry?

Thanks for any advice

Think its just the wrong time of year to be selling to be honest.

One of mine had a sarcoid. After lots of manipulating it eventually came off. Never had any since so wouldnt worry me.

I would take it off the advert and mention when someone contacts you about him.

That way you can tell them all the good things about the horse and explain how they havent caused any bother.
In an adverts you cant go into too much detail and it will put a lot of people off

I bought a horse with a huge sarcoid on his face that needed surgery, did the thing you should never do and felt sorry for him as the owners hadn't done anything about it and left it to grow and ruin the young chaps chances. Luckily the sugery went well and he was fine afterwards, we then had to sell him a couple of years ago, after owning for four years and no more sarcoids. We didn't put it in the ad but did tell anyone who called, I think it probably did put a few people off, but my vet was happy to talk to them about the sarcoid so everything was above board. We found him a lovely home and he's had no probs since.

I agree. They wouldnt put me off but its a buyers market at the moment and if its between a choice of a horse with sarcoids and one without then most people will choose without. Take it out of the advert but tell people when you speak to them, letting them know heis priced accordingly.

It woud put me off a little yes I have to say. ithink a combiantion of this and the time of year the market is slow. I would take it off the add and make a desicion to opening metion them or not say anything unless asked. They really should be picked up on a 5 stage vetting, but I know some vets put more time into it than others.
