ive had a sharer for my horse for the past 5 months, the problem is my horse was on box rest for 4 of these so i told my sharer she didnt need to pay as she wasnt getting anything out of sharing him.

ive recently just lost a job and am struggling with the weekly livery. the horse is now coming back into work, and although hes only walked shes enjoying being able to ride him again.

my question is, do i ask her to start paying again? i feel i was fair in not asking her to pay while she couldnt ride, but i dont want to be rude and demand payment just cos she can walk him for half an hour a day..

Does she know that you've lost your job?

I think that you've been very fair, and its fair enough to ask her to start paying again. Presuming that she will be able to do faster work in the near future as he gets fitter..?

ive not told her yet as i dont want to seem like im guilt tripping her into paying :(. yeah he will be able to return to normal work after his final xray on monday! :)

I think it's fair to ask for payment once he's fit for normal work. Getting the go-ahead from the vet also means you have a natural point to bring the topic up.

I wouldn't expect to stop paying if I was sharing and the horse went lame - its all part of the joy of having them ;-)

yeah but she'd only had him a couple of weeks before he got the injury and the vet told us there was only a 50/50 chance of him recovering fully. plus i was on holiday when it happened and she had to look after him while i was freaking out on the other side of the world. i definitely owed her!
