To poo pick or not to poo pick?

No farmer ever has poo picked behind cattle and sheep, which have the same issues with worm resistance etc except they are usually kept on a much larger acreage than horses are. I think in a small area of horse sick ground, poo pick, on your acreage, find something more enjoyable to do with that time. ;)

I do mine on restricted grazing in the summer, my mare has 3 acres to herself and I don't do that, it will be harrowed and grazed by sheep before she is on it again next summer.

When I had 5 horses on 5 acres I poo picked obsessively, that included 2 geldings and they used to crap indiscriminately everywhere. Now I only have 1 mare (and 2 goats as companions) on the same acreage so I am more relaxed about it. She is very tidy though and has poo areas which she never grazes even when cleared. I would probably not worry about 2 horses on 20 acres ;) I agree with the vet's argument about not worming unnecessarily, but I don't think it's a case for not poo-picking especially if you have a lot of horses on a small amount of pasture.
