Having just come back from Trailblazers finals I have just realised how nice a pulled tail looks!! So now I'm debating whether to do the pony or not. He's a 13.3hh lemon & white Irish cob with a bushy tail! We do plait his mane & tail for shows.
Should I pull or leave it? Is there any advantage/disadvantage in having it pulled? & if I do, what's the best way to do it? I've looked on the net & there's a few videos suggesting to do it with a rake for a cob.

I would offer cake in Exchange for advice but kids are off school & they have already eaten me out of house & home!!

I pulled mine for the first time about 3 months ago and the difference was incredible. Not only does it look smarter, but it's so so so much easier to keep clean and tidy.

Not sure if anybody else does this, but I can now keep on top of it (without it being obvious) by trimming the sides with scissors and only pulling as little as possible!

Don't know why I didn't do it earlier really!

Smart tail rakes work well (if you decide to pull). TBH if his mane is plaited you may as well just plait his tail..............if he were hogged however the definitely pull tail.

Pull.
It is easy to use a rake on a thick tail, take some off the sides over a few days until you get the effect you want.Pull a little out as you go to get a really tidy finish.
Once it is how you want it just keep it neat with regular bandaging.
Saves time on show days.

Very easy with a rake

This was my 1st go (took about 10mins), took more off a few days later as didn't feel I had taken the sides down far enough.
