Hi

Which way do you go? I am near the A3 at Liphook so easy access to the A272 at Petersfield but doesn't that mean you go through Petworth which must be a nightmare in a lorry.

The sea road (cant remember what its called) feels a long way round as does going up to the M25 and then down M23.

Help please. Am hoping to go to Pyecombe on Friday and then Royal Leisure on Sunday and dont really want to spend hours and hours driving!

Ta in advance.

Yep have already googled it and have driven that route but it means going through Petworth which would be a nightmare in a lorry.

What google suggests isn't always the best route with the lorry so just trying to benefit from others experience. I might be better off speeding round the M25 and down the M23 - just don't know! And when I say speeding I mean going 50 mph!!

Hi
I'm based at Pyecombe.
Most people that come from Portsmouth/Southampton way come straight along M27/A27 and pick up A23.
We are literally two minutes from A27/A23 junction.
We go this way to Crofton if it's any help

Wow not offered that route with my google!!

Not sure on that road - not driven it before. Always got to watch out for little bridges and narrow roads haven't you? Will check it out a bit more.

Lol, I have no idea of its any good, from what I know the billingshurst/cowfold bit would be fine, just not sure about your end if that make sense

Just lots of roundabouts!! I drive big truck to Crofton that route, if I take one to Liphook, I'd go M25/A3 as best ride for horses. We're hour and half from Crofton if traffic good.

Ha ha I'm not sure about my end either!!!

Will ask around.....my father seems to have driven every road I go on so I will ask him.

Shirleyno2 - so from Liphook you would go A3/M25 to your place? How long does it take? You said 90 mins to Crofton just wondering for Liphook.

Helpful - didnt know there was a lorry route around Petworth.

I may be a lazy lorry driver but I much prefer the motorways and dual carriageways - horses are happier and so am I. Much less effort than the little roads.

Could go Haslemere thru to the Petworth road then turn left at the roundabout just before Petworth centre?

That's the lorry route. When you get to that roundabout there are black signs with a lorry drawing on - takes you left, then you turn right and you come out the other side of Petworth. I used to take the trailer through Petworth but wouldn't try it in the lorry.

From Liss we went A272 Petworth was fine in our 3.5t. It did take a while to get there but I think that's the quickest way.

We are just the north side of Hindhead (Thursley) and we have found (a few of us including those who jump regularly at RL) that A3/M25 is the quickest route in a 7.5tn (or larger) lorry. Also easiest for horses as straighter routes and more economical on the diesel as can sit in higher gear. However is worth checking travel news before leaving as if M25 is a carpark then Petworth is better (and as Star says above, follow the lorry signs and it will take you around the town centre - though I have been through it a few times in the lorry and its ok when not busy)

Thanks everyone. Think I will go the A3 and M25 route, quicker and straightforward - if the motorways are behaving themselves!

Lets hope the weather is good.
