Trying to decide what to do with my trailer and if I do sell how much it might be worth...

My boy is 23 - we still hack and he still loves to pop a XC fence but I've pretty much given up on stressage and haven't competed him in XC for years...I always thought we might do a low level 60/70cm hunter trial as he loves that but last year he coliced again after a summer day jumping and I put it down to dehydration - he wouldn't drink - I've sorted this with Perform and Restore mash but ultimately he's never going to be super fit (that said, on a hack and on the beach he has plenty of energy!)

Anyway long winded ramble - I have just had my trailer serviced and cleaned and wondering what to do as I no longer do clinics or go to shows- I occasionally meet people to hack off the yard but not often. So i'm not sure whether now is a good time to sell or if I will regret it!! The other q is about another horse -although I'm not sure I could afford another and while my current is still in work albeit it very low key it might be challenging..mine is ridden/lunged about 4 times a week including weekends. I would like to go back to doing some XC (no massive lofty ambitions!) and perhaps clinics again - but after a few pole clinics where my boy was unenthuasiastic I stopped doing them. I just lunge over poles in the school to help keep him active and he is fine with that.

Trailer is basic but has done the job. It's a Bateson Derby, wooden floor but where I have it serviced said not to replace it as floor is in very good condition. Just had new tyres on. Serviced every year. I downplated it to carry my horse with my car before the trailer test ended but it can be changed back, It's 2004. I removed the partition as with it in it is only for two small ponies, and the rubber has come off the bottom of the partition, otherwise it's fine.

The only question I would ask is, if your current horse had an issue, would you have access to alternative transport if you needed an urgent visit to the vet?

It’s costing me about £13 a month to store it outsise. I just paid £330 for service new tyres. I just don’t know if it’s worth keeping for the odd hack. Otherwise it’s 1500 sitting gathering dust

I also always like to have transport for the vets if nothing else … I would keep it … you will never replace it cheaper than the one you’ve got so if you are not sure don’t sell

Personally for what you would get for it I would keep it, you never know when you might want transport .

We sold our trailer last year since COVID we have barely used it and my husband had to service it every year.Due to regulations around tyres it needed 5 new tyres next year .The local vet hospital can arrange transport as well as having several friends who would help out in an emergency.
Plus we are considering moving and down sizing next year and poss wouldn't have undercover storage for it which we presently have.
We were inundated with people wanting it and sold it to a friend of an acquaintance for more than we bought it for new.
It will be one less thing to move when we sell up.
