i have a lovely 16.3 hanovarian compete novice affil, he is a bit spooky, but really not sure he will go much higher than elementary, am i expecting too much, should i sell or just be happy enjoying him. he spooks out hacking and can be bit lively but linseed probably has not helped this. its a question of can i afford to buy what i would really like, reckon i would get 5500 for my fella, but what i would love to buy would be about 10k should i settle for 2nd best and get the best out of my boy instead for self satisfaction.

Really depends on you.

Do you feel he's holding you back? Do you want to progress faster than he's able? Do you have the money to buy something more advanced or the skill to train something to a higher level?

I always look at it like this: if I advertised the horse tomorrow and someone phoned, tried and bought him, would I be inconsolable about him having gone or secretly pleased as he wasn't my sort really and looking forward to getting the next one?

There's your answer IMO
