To sell or would you regret it?

This is what I’m concerned about, unfortunately one of her quirks is that she needs individual turnout or she gets kicked as didn’t have socialisation as a foal. We’ve tried her with ponies are she doesn’t think of them as company.

I would hope that it isnt too late for her to learn social skills in a herd. I have 3 mares and a gelding, 2 of which are ex racers with very little turnout experience. The gelding had no turnout full stop previous.
they all learn fairly quick who is boss. I’ve had a couple of ripped rugs within the first few days but no kicks thankfully.
Over the years i have had many come and go, the mares have been no bother. they learn to respect boss mare within hours. It is if i have 2 geldings there can be trouble as they can fight over the mares.
i am very much a let them learn person though. With all animals. ( and kids)!I want them to learn survival skills.

Oh I like you ? .. any concern they might be hind gut ulcers? Is she an alpha mare the herd boss? My mare was like yours but without the talent. Turns out to be a tumor on her left ovary. But she was very very extreme.

I have either been methodical or mad, depends on who you ask
I have wondered this, I think the only things left would be scan ovaries or bone scan at this point. She actually loves other mares, unbothered by boys and turns into butter around an alpha mare, totally compliant and happy to follow them around lovingly.

I tried this but drew the line at the second emergency vet call out for stitches and x-rays unfortunately! It’d just not worth the risk so she’s got used to individual and is happy grooming her buds over the fence.

Scanning ovaries is pretty cheap .. well in comparison to the full body work up she’s already had, your poor bank balance! Although she’s not very symptomatic for ovaries is she unless she’s acts riggy around other mares and I think you’d have mentioned that, although is she possessive of them or clingy to them. Whats she getting out of the relationship? Reassurance or a herd to lead? I take it she was weaned normally and not an orphan?

You’ve hit it on the head there, she was premature then bottle fed. I think it’s a reassurance thing.
