I'm just wondering for those of you who hunt, how on earth are you keeping your horses fit at the moment? Surely you're going to lose your whole season the way it's going, if you can't keep them physically ready for it? Interested to hear your tips!

I'm not! The only exercise he's getting is being turned out in the field which I guess is better then being stabled 24/7. He isn't fit anyway but was planning on building him up so he's ready for hunting in a few months. I guess we'll have to wait until the next season now.

I hunt my spotty boy (well I intend to get out this season if it ever stops snowing/being too icy!) It's annoying, because I spent the whole of the Autumn doing lots of fitness work making sure he was super fit and well ready for hunting. We did manage to get out cubbing once which was fab! I am lucky enough to have an Indoor school at my yard so I can keep him ticking over by doing some schooling with him when it's too bad to hack out. I've managed to hack out the last three days, just doing road work but we've had some good long trots and done lots of hill work and he is certainly still super fit! But we are due 10 inches of snow here tonight so, I might be restricted to schooling again. He will probably be one of the fittest out when we do eventually get to go as I know lots of people aren't able to ride at all in this weather.

I'm really struggling, doing a bit of trot work down the roads when I can but its becoming a nightmare. I managed to get out hunting last Thursday and he was alot fitter than I was expecting him to be, I just hope the weather sorts itself out soon so I can stop him becoming too unfit! :(

I have to say that I'm not keeping him fit! I rode today for the first time in nearly a month, and that was just a stroll around the village. He has been turned out daily though, and does spend a lot of that time larking about at speed with the other one, so it won't take too long to get him more or less up to speed.

we're only out on foot at the moment, and if it snows as planned tonight/tomorrow I don't suppose even that will happen. :(

Indoor school! Due to work I can only ride indoors during the week anyway, so the weather hasn't affected me all that much. Hoping to get out for a ride on the fields on friday as I have an early finish from work. Not that it looks like we'll be hunting any time soon, and certainly not on boxing day.
