What do you have and how do you rate it? I am sick of waiting for Jeep to come up with a solution to the N46 recall debacle and have decided to trade it in. I only ever tow one horse weighing 550kg in a IW 505 once a month or less so I am actually debating whether or not I actually need a 4x4/SUV anymore. Need a towing capacity of around 2000kg, so far thinking along the lines of a Subaru legacy or a Ford Mondeo....

I have never towed with a skoda octavia diesel, have often wondered if it could. Have owned one for 8 years now. So far, touch wood, and all that, it has been a star. Nice to drive. Reasonably economical too. Never going to get the ooh factor off people, but I reckon that's a good thing.

I have a subaru legacy, and as useful a car that it is, there is no way it has the guts to tow unfortunately (shame, I did look into it)

I love the Subaru Forester (later model). Fab towing, permanent 4wd and very economical on fuel. I do a lot of miles for work and would be reluctant to drive anything else now. Tows 2000kg and easily pulled a 500kg horse and IW 505.

Maisie06 - me too, despite being promised a response I am not going to hold my breath. I have been looking at a Kia Sorrento. Mind you given today's news regarding diesel cars we are seriously considering trading in the car, selling the trailer and buying a small runaround. Then rent a horsebox for the outings

What news is this with diesels?? I dread to think!! I'd forgotten about Kia Sorrentos, I don't expect a sensible reply from Jeep either, sorry to see it go but needs must.

NB just read the news, if the government hurry up they can pay for us to remove our now useless jeeps from the road, at least we would get something back!!

I traded in my shogun and bought a car with 2000kg tow capacity. Hated it and never felt safe. I only towed one horse in ifor 505. I sold the car after 9 months about bought a kia sorento. Love it! The model I have is 3000 kg tow capacity and foes the job no problem. It's a nice car to drive day to day too.
