Who has turned out their horses in this awful weather? My two are out, the mare lives out so I swapped her rug for a dry one and then chucked my gelding out...everyone else had left theirs in! There's plenty of shelter and they seem happy! They may come in a little earlier than normal. Am I being mean or are the others being too nice?

Ours are in today. 30mph wind and heavy rain here. If we turn them out they'll just stand there by the hedge, not eating and getting miserable. I hate keeping them in TBH as I do believe they should go out whatever the weather, but if they aren't going to eat they will get cold internally and it just isn't worth it. They all think it is their birthday standing knee deep in straw eating haylage as if their lives depended on it!

All 3 went out as usual, but might get them in a bit earlier if they look too miserable (they are all munching away happily at the moment!)

Ours are out, we are really nasty! Their field is relatively sheltered and they have some good big trees to go under but I suspect they are all standing with their backs to it, looking thoroughly miserable. I have to say, though, that with all the pr about Operation Esther, I am beginning to put things in perspective - our horses are soooooooooooooo lucky and sooooooooooo spoilt aren't they really?

PMSL!! They'll have big contented fat bellies this evening!
We've got 30-40mph winds and heavy rain...my two were munching happily this morning. But I might go check them after lunch....starting to feel guilty!! Fingers crossed they'll still be filling their bellies with green stuff!

Don't feel guilty! I'm sure they'll be fine.

And yep, as if they are not round enough they'll be even fatter later on. Am hoping that the rain will have stopped later so if nothing else I can do some long lining or something with them. One of ours in particular is such a piglet I can picture him now in his stable lying on his back, rubbing his tummy with his foot saying "I couldn't eat another thing"...

mine are out for now although they have a huge shelter with loads of hay so are probably tucked up in there! put they thick rugs with the necks on. if i keeps raining much mor ethe field will flood and they will have to come back in!

let mine out as soon as the weather eased a little - it is not cold here but bit drafty and ground v wet....they are happy to be out and easting grass....look fine.

I let my big sheep out as they were insistant, but suspect that they will put themsleves to bed early tonight! have let my lambys out for a quick scoot round the garden as they were in all day yesterday and Sunday due to torrential rain so they are having a skit about - not cold here so they should be OK for a few mins...am working from home today so can shut them up as soon as see a spot of rain (working not easy when lambys to play with tho!!)

Weather is downright biblical isn't it? hate the wind.....

It's got brighter here now, but I suspect mine will be spending the day in. They were in yesterday as the fields are wet and swamp-like and there's nothing for them to eat outside.
If they have been kept in then the YO will keep them nicely stocked up with haylage and I'll have to ride later

Hopefully if it's still windy then Meg might have some bounce in her

mine are in only as farrier coming and didnt think he would like wet muddy legs .Otherwise they would be out except sasha who is on box rest with three lame legs !

Out - not had a day in in 2 years! Weather forecast for us is rain stopping this afternoon so I'm sure they'll be fine. Will come in at 6pm when we get home from work and been out since 5:45am

Wow, I can't believe it!! For the first time in history, the weather in North West Scotland is fabulous!! Dry, sunny and mild...
Usually it rains constantly when everywhere else in the country is submerged in sunshine. We will probably get this horrid sounding weather tonight

Ours are out as normal but may get them in a bit earlier than normal (more for the sake of the fields than anything else!!)

In - but I wish I'd left them out now - it's brightened up a bit. They went on the walker this morning though and have plenty of food, so they won't be too bothered! Also, fields could do with a break - it's soooooo muddy!

I'm evil, too. All six will be out when they're not being worked. Why else did I pay all that money for shelters?

I ride every day whatever the weather, even hurricanes don't give them a break. I'm just heartless.

I'm so relieved I put them out as its been sunny for the last 2 hours. It was pouring first thing this morning so lunged them and put them back in stable, but then stopped raining almost, so put them out. For once I've done the right thing !

in, am also in essex weather terrible. tried to turn out my gelding he got to the field gate stuck his head up and bluntly refused to go any further. it's blowing an absolute hooley here.

Appears to brightening up down here. Brought the boy in when I went up to muck out (daughter had turned him out this morning). He was asking to come in. His field is about 3/4 underwater. After an hour in the stable I put him in the merely soggy field rather than what is currently the "pond" field. He seemed quite happy when I left. Hopefully no more heavy rain for the rest of the day.

I've kept mine in today, I'm probably the only one on our yard that has done so but I keep her in a couple of days a week anyway.

my mare is in. Her field is awful and she just stands at the gate looking miserable. Hopefully the weather will improve
