To Whom It May Concern...

[ QUOTE ]
If it was a PM, how can it be libelous as nobody else can see it?

No axe to grind, no clue who anybody is, just curious...

[/ QUOTE ]

mm yes wondering the sort of the same thing - perhaps accusatory? And if it's a child - does it count anyway???

I agree with Spiral, however perhaps JM is using the forum for a bit of a rant.
If the charming individual who sent her the PM sees this thread with the support for JM, it might just rattle her enough to prevent her/him from doing it someone else.

Does it really need advertising to the world wide web and especially the HHO family?

Now would you really want to consider yourself a fellow hatchling of mine, Kiram?
No, I thought not.

JM has not actually outed anyone, or even been clear on what has happened, so it just creates speculation. I don't really see any need for this to have been brought onto the open forum, it seems very much to be a private matter and the message in the OP could have been easily conveyed by PM.

Whoever this girl is, hopefully she will have learnt her lesson anyway.

Completely agree; I see no reason for it to have been made public in this way.

I remember a while back an issue with another forum member who posted details of a PM - and that ended in tears. No need for it.

Step back a minute here guys, JM is a BUSINESSWOMAN, her BUSINESS is being slandered.
It is no different to a company such as Robinsons posting that they will be taking legal action against a forum user if slanderous comments continue.
Just because JM is a forum member doesn't mean she's any less entitled to protect her reputation than any other business.
Taking into account that this is a child we're dealing with, I think this is a very apt way of dealing with them. They are probably unaware of what a fool they have been and a PM would only have made them think JM was picking on them.
Public opinion should embarrass them into stopping.

over 18................responsible for teir own actions...legally.

Tbh, At the age of ten, you can be punished by the law. Fined or sent to a young offenders institution. Therefor, ten or above, in the eye of the law you are responsible for your own actions/

TBH I'm not sure that this should have been bought up in this manner, however, if what JM is saying is true then she has every right to be pi$$ed off about it.

Just remember you are only hearing/reading one side of the story and its unfair to make a judgement on that.

I am not taking sides as I know nothing about this situation nor the people involved, and its a shame if the HHO has been used for spite.

Lets hope it all gets sorted out asap.

Why not? Someone appears to have acted like a brat. I would actually be surprised if they expected NOT to be 'outed' on the forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

"Appears" being the optimum word.

Well, as you say, JM hasn't actually outed anyone, so in whilst the act HAS been brought into the open, the perpetrator hasn't. I think she (perpetrator) could reasonably expect some sort of repercussions.

QR.

Being a little more up to date on the circumstances surrounding this I can, hand on heart, say that JM is dealing with this very sensibly.

Had I been in her shoes, I too would have posted here.

But surely for the business to be slagged off, the comments need to be made public, not via a PM? If its just between 2 people then no-one else knows what was said and therefore the comments cant be defamatory.

If the comments were made public then that would be a different matter.
