I know I should wait until I have photos of the baby, but I just had to share the news that Tobago's firstborn has finally arrived!

I'm sure you've had this hundreds of times, but isn't it just the BEST feeling when a breeder rings you up all euphoric and bubbling over with happiness at the foal your stallion has given them?

They are truly delighted and telling everyone the little colt is 'spectacular' and 'absolutely gorgeous'! I'm trying to reserve judgement until I see some photos, but I'm just SO happy for them!

Apparently he's a v pretty chestnut with a small white star and narrow stripe - and tail always up and curled over his back, just like Daddy...

I'm hoping that I will soon be well enough to go and visit him, but just knowing the owners are so thrilled is wonderful - what a great way to make people happy!

Congratulations. It must be great feeling, being a stallion owner and having all those mares foaling down to your lad; like having a huge stud farm but without the poo-picking... Who is the Mum?
 
He he - alleycat I love that - big stud farm with no poo-picking, and no sitting up all night on foal-watch either!

Sorry - I should have said that the Mum is a nice chestnut pure-bred mare called Sahibaa, of mainly Polish and Egyptian bloodlines. It's her first baby and she's being a great mother.

LOL Navalgem - be careful what you wish for...!

I'm OK, thanks, just had another bit of a set-back so I'm not allowed out until I gain some weight (dropped to 5 stone 3 - so I look scary and would only frighten the poor horses anyway LOL)!

But I hope I won't be on 'box rest' for too long - and while I am, it's great to be able to come and chat on here!

Oh K hunny!!! I'm absolutely thrilled for you!!! So to hear you've been unwell, I hope you are soon well enough to pay the new arrival a visit!!
 
Yep - very first baby! Produced from his very first 'collection', even!

Sahibaa's owner actually had more confidence in my stallion than I did - last year she insisted on taking her mare up to Twemlows to be there when Tobago arrived, even though he hadn't had any semen-evaluation tests or anything!

When Tobago got off the lorry, the mare people at Twemlows told Tullis to hurry up and collect off him, cos Sahibaa was bang in season and they needed semen asap. So they collected straight away, AI'd Sahibaa, and this foal is the result!

LOL SN - yeah, it's all a bit clinical, isn't it? Not very romantic!

Poor little Tobago must have been very bemused, being unloaded off the lorry and marched straight up to a jump-mare and dummy! He hadn't even reached his 3rd birthday then, and was still such a baby - but he quickly figured out what was required and did his best, bless him.

i know its a great feeling when your stallions first baby arrives, my pik polo's first baby went on the qualify for hoys lets hope yours is as successful unfortunately i had to sell polo to help fund my house on our land, very sad but he has a lovely home, and has risen up the dressage scales and is doin fantastic. So sorry to hear your not been well again, hope things get better soon
