Checked her in at the AHT yesterday afternoon, and Sue Dyson had a look at her and decided to xray both hocks and both shoulders. Apparently the second most common cause of front limb lameness (behind foot related problems) in minis, shetlands and little ponies is shoulder dysplasia

Fortunately both her shoulders are fine *phew!* but she does have arthritic changes/osteoarthritis in both hocks, which we thought was the case anyway (Rhind had already been xrayed).

So, she's having a bone scan today, hopefully we'll then know what's going on. I've got to ring tomorrow morning to discuss the results and where to go from there.

She's loving the most enormous fluffy shavings bed in her stable, she was busy rooting through the banks (which are nearly as big as her!) when I left last night

Fingers crossed and vibes for a good result.

T is so cute - bet all the grooms are fighting over her (if they can find her underneath all of those shavings!)

Let me know what SD says.

Thanks guys

I can just imagine what she looked like this morning - she never bothers to shake off shavings when she gets up, so she'll have been covered head to foot in shavings stuck to her fluffy coat

You are so lucky you can afford the bone scan. The AHT wanted to do one on my gelding a while ago, but my insurers refused to cover it and I simply didn't have the £1200 cost for it. I have had to live with a diagnosis from X-rays and scans - which may or may not have highlighted the problem. We have another few months of rest before we know if the treatment has solved the problem.

I rang earlier and she behaved for the scan today. She played up in the xrays yesterday despite being sedated

Thanks everyone - am so hoping it's something fixable!
