Today, I did something I swore I'd never do...

...I pulled Ellie's tail!!!

For years now, I've had an ongoing dispute with Mum, who has always wanted to pull it. I've always managed to win the battle....but now Ellie has taken the decision out of my hands! The walls in her box are made of stone...all the better to itch her backside against - and the result is an incredibly scraggy, bog brush tail. I love it 'natural' because she has high tail carriage and it looks all lovely and plumy...but now she's scrubbed half of it away, there really was no option but to pull it!

She was a very good girl, considering she's never had it done before. I've never pulled a tail in my life so am hoping I've done it right....it looks quite neat and has actually had the effect of making her tail look thicker, so that can only be a good thing I guess! No pics I'm afraid - but I have had a look at some 'How to pull a tail' pics on the net, and think Ellie's looks ok!

Better than the bog brush look, I ride a welsh D who rubbed the top of her tail last year which was an embarrassment because it looked like a scruffily pulled tail on a native

oooh i remember this one well with my arab i had when i was a teenager.....he used torub most of his mane and the top of his tail out on our stone walls.....used to almost reduce me to tears as he could have had such a beautiful mane and tail!!

Here is the bog brush....please be honest, have I done it right? I have never pulled a tail before and am panicking that I've made a mess of it!
