This actually brought a tear to my eye. I am so sorry for your loss, may he sleep tight in horsey heaven, galloping through the clouds!

I think you made the right decision, as he was 20+ he had already had a good innings, and much better to let him go quietly and peacefully before things got too bad.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Know how you feel. I lost my mare nearly 5 yrs ago. Turned her out in the field in the morning, got a call at lunch time to say she had broken her leg in the field, how we dont know. Vet came very quickly and there was nothing they could do, she was asleep by the time I got to her from work. I was numb for days but it does in time get easier. xx

I am so sorry and sad to read this...I lost my previous boy suddenly like that, right as rain and then in a terrible way the next evening. He would not have made the journey and the vet did not give that as an option...it was too late, twisted guts and a mess.
Never forget that you did the right thing and never forget the good memories. Take care.
