Today..I lost my Desi. RIP fella.

So so so sorry for your loss, you made the brave choice for your lovely horse, not the easiest one :(

i just lost my horse a few days ago too in a horrible sudden accident and people on here are so kind, take comfort from their words. Sounds like your horse had a great life and you were a good friend right to the end. Run free Desi (((((((HUGS)))))))))

Friends....

Thankyou so much for your kind words. It really means a lot to me.

Had (yet) another cry this morning when I went down to put the other 2 out.

I have loads of photos, and I can see him clear as day in my minds eye..standing at the gate with his ears pricked whinnying to me.

I know it will get better in time.

So sorry for your loss.

My girl has been up there 7 months now, she knows the way round and iv sent her a special message to look after him for you and show him round.
Hes in safe hands.

Thinking of you xx

RIP Desi, As others have said, you did the right thing for him, putting yourself to the side. Keep those last happy memories close and allow yourself time to grieve.

If it's any help, and I know it probably isn't right now, my little welsh cob had a similar growth in his gut, it didn't cause colic but it did slowly starve him. He was PTS last october when he'd normally be at his fattest instead he looked like he'd lived out unrugged all winter and it was february. We decided to let him go before the winter came along, and given how bad the winter was I'm glad we did.

Oh god, I've only just read this, I am so so very sorry (((hugs))).

If there is any comfort in this, at least he was a healthy and happy horse up to his collic, galloping around in his field yesterday etc but never the less, a very sad loss, I think by the sounds of things, you made the right choice, I'd of done the same.

RIP Desi.

xx
