Today I was asked to shave................

well the vets receptionist, but she is like my PA

My dad is a retired sheep (and beef) farmer, he used to shear all his sheep himself (most get clippers in now a days) and when he sheared the 'hill' he did them all with hand clippers (as in not electric) as they had no access to electricity where the hill ones were gathered. Much the same as clipping horse (well not really but trying to make you feel better) although technique very different, they actually 'coup' (turn it upside down) and clip it while its lying on its back, suppose that's so when it wriggles it can go anywhere as its legs are in the air

I have sheared a goat.... with hand shearer things.... It was bloody hard work as goats are really greasy (thats why the sheep shearer lady wouldnt do them).

I had a multitude of blisters all over my hand from it!!

hmm, I get requests for rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, and the odd weird man. But never a sheep. Maybe cos I'm in the city. However...as I'm in the city, I'd be REALLY WORRIED if someone asked me to shave their sheep!

Oh, and forgot to say...
went ot the RHS a couple of years ago, not long after I'd competed in a dog grooming show - I had won a Novice class with a STandard Poodle that I'd handscissored. I was soooo mesmerised by a bloke handscissoring his sheep for show....
