a Springer Spaniel crossed with a bulldog... They had been bred because they were both 'nice dogs and got on well together'. The owners were offering them to people they know because they aren't selling - possibly because they're butt ugly....

*sighs*

"They are nice dogs and they got on well together."
Is this an episode of Friends?
NO THEY ARE DOGS AND DOGS LIKE SHAGGING EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**CC runs off into the sunset, screaming**

Lol Colleen - I'm going to print that off and put it on my desk

I *may* have told the woman what I thought - OH stopped me from going too far as I nearly had her in tears

As is happens someone from my local shoot was looking for a couple of pups as he's retiring his two older dogs after this season so he's going to look at them on Friday. Hopefully a working home will suit them - apparantly they're nuts already

Admittedly I tend to think that even ugly puppies can be cute in their ugliness but, who in their right mind could look at a Springer Spaniel and a Bulldog and think that they will make a good cross together? Honestly, think if you get a puppy with the brain and desire to work as a Springer Spaniel but with a Bulldog body?

"They got on well together." My God, I finally got a new computer and new internet access, some years after my first computer died, only so that I would be able to search the internet for the best possible Finnish Lapphund stud dog for my bitch. With their logic, I could have saved my money and asked the man with the purebred, racing type Greyhounds that lives in the neighbourhood if I could have used one of his dogs, because my bitch gets on very well with his dogs!

My old GSD used to be in love with a West Highland White Terrier called Sammy from an estate down the road. They got on swimmingly. Oh, if only little CC could have looked into the future and saw how much money could be made from freaking weird-ass crossbreeding

Yeah and you know his dogs both have lovely temperament and have proved themselves on the racing track, imagine all the fluffy teddy bears that could run like the wind, *insert dramatic voice* that I could have created...

Oh and by the way, I've seen a black and white photo of a GSD and Dachshund cross (though it was from back in the days when such crosses really happened unintentionally). I still remember that he was called Lasse, maybe my strong memory of seeing the photo has something to do with that in height and appearance, everything from the withers and forward looked like purebred GSD but the behind was in height more resembling a Dachshund!

Low income or never worked, on some kind of top up benefit, no or little education, gormless as u are ever likely to come across......or maybe their parents could top that

I saw one of them on Animal 24/7 the other day, just like a shep but with wee short legs, very odd looking although the owner was an older lady, maybe she liked gsds but they were too big for her?!

Bloody idiots

Our local pound now has 43 dogs to rehome and 18 in the lost and found section and twats like this are breeding more pups 'because the dogs get on well'???? Makes me want to go rescue another one

FLH there are brothers on the Many Tears site called Cheese and Burgers who appear to be GSDs/Corgis - they have these normal, noble, GSD heads, black saddle, and you look down and it looks as if their legs have been cut off!

Oh Gawd......

Henry gets on well with everything, I shall go and ask the vet to reattach his plums as clearly he has missed his vocation as a super stud...

I saw a staffie x dachshund yesterday, looked like a dachsund but had a huge boofy head and much thicker legs. It was ginger with a blaze on its head.
I bet they'd be demons on badgers...JOKE!

The thing is that when I said everything from the withers and forward looked like purebred GSD, it included the forearms. Lasse's forearms was GSD forearms and his back resembled a ski slope down to his Dachshund bottom!

I've seen them and wondered what you and MurphysMinder would think about them but at least their legs are evenly short all around, see my second reply about Lasse...

There used to be some GSDs around in the 70s who would have fitted the description of Lasse

I saw the GSD x dachs on animal 24/7 too, but it just looked like a Shep chopped off at the knees.
As to the idiots with the springer/bulldogs, I wonder if they take the same approach when they meet people they "get on well with" in the pub
