Today in my water trough I found . . . .

Yes, i have goldfish in my two tanks. They eat all the mosquito larvae. You can tell they do a good job, as i keep having to swop them into another tank that has none, which is teeming with 'orrible wigglies'.
My sprocker is also found in them as well !!

Magpie :( he was quite tame and always about a breakfast feeding, I miss seeing him stealing the horses feed.

I have put a stick in the horses trough now, it allows the birds etc. to get out if they fall in.

I tried that but the horses played with it and it didn't stay in the trough long:p

I have also found a baby owl in a waterbucket, didn't realise it was such a commom thing - silly birds

I wonder also if it is to do with the hot weather, if their usual places have dried up and they are having to look elsewhere. I found a baby squirrel in the mares water bucket a couple of weeks ago and assumed it had jumped/fallen from the roof of the building and misjudged, but maybe it was trying to drink! On a happier note I saw a gorgeous little owl sat about 6ft away from me on a gate post the other day, we were chatting to each other for about 10 minutes quite happily til it flew off!

Two baby owls in ours once - wasn't even near a tree and I don't believe they were actually old enough to fly well!? I'm not sure, I didn't actually see them. :(
