Sidesaddle!.

Well, I have done it before with my old boy and today was the day I dusted off his sidesaddle to see if it fitted..... I was stunned to find it did. So Ru had her first introduction to sidesaddle today.

Since she took to the saddle well I thought I might have a little sit and a wander round the yard, to see how she was. Well I think confused was about right.

I was very proud however, I rediscovered how mean people can be as a lady at the yard yelled " I don't know why you are doing that, you can't F****** ride properly at the best of times". This was followed up with "mad"

Any way, on that note I went once more round the yard Just because I could and I took my rather demoralised self back to put my girl to bed.

So, and for no other reason than I can.... here is bad photographic proof that I have finally dusted off the sidesaddle!

And why not? Great stuff and nice horse to be just 'confused' about it ;)

Charming 'lady' at the yard too. Obviously jealous. :p

Thank you, that has really made me smile:D. She is a bit of a sweetheart.... she is only 7 and an ex-racer to boot, but she seems to have such a sensible head on her shoulders.

As for the "lady", what made it worse is that she is the resident instructor, that I have for lessons when I can afford them. Well I think we now know where we stand!!

Never mind..... must think positive thoughts, as we have a XC clinic tomorrow, and I was... sorry AM looking forward to it.

If resident instructor was being deadly serious and not joking....then PR skills needed I think! :)

Anyway....good luck XC tomorro!!! Sidesaddle too to spice things up?? :P

MM definatly.

Thanks....No the XC is definatly astride, I think it will be spicy enough without the sidesaddle:D

Oooh, I'd love to try side saddle! Not sure Danny would be so keen though... :o

psh, I know who I /wouldn't/ be having lessons off in future... some people. Should have asked her to show you how it's done maybe? :p

absolutely no reason why all horses cant be versatile! would think about a different instructor! enjoy your xc and keep up the sidesaddle quietly, soon it will be seond nature to the horse!!!

only rode side saddle once, but I really liked it. A bit scary at first, but wow, some fun. I would take no notice and use it as much as you want to. I'd love to own one and start ridind in it. Do you need a special instructor or do most know how to teach you when riding side saddle??

Most I know that do ladies, it was always originally a case of them getting chucked on it and having to just 'get on with it' and stay on XD

a friend had side saddle lessons before her wedding, and rode off after the ceremony to the reception. The horse did s*** on her dress, but otherwise a complete success ;) sm x

What a nasty person and obviously a sh!te instructor to say something like that, absolutely no need for it at all and reflects much more strongly on her than it does on you.

How great that your girl took to it so well though, bless her! Hope you keep it up now and can show off how versatile ex racers can be. Have fun at the XC today!

My sister and I were given an old side saddle many years ago, (too many to mention) We put it on one of the riding school plods who was so good. She plodded around the yard and we had great fun. What a horrible woman. Take no notice and have lots of fun with your horse and your side saddle
