Well, I remembered both tests

Warming up for P17 she felt a bit hyper, so I did lots of long and low, transitions and leg yielding just to get her listening. She had a few bucking and squealing moments, but seeing as she has not been out for a while I could forgive her those...

We went into the arena, and her eyes were on stalks, but she did not put a foot wrong. The test felt pretty nice, although she jogged in her medium walk and tripped in a change of the diagonal because she was looking at something really exciting (her reflection in a window

). We were last in the class, so by the time I had put her back in the trailer and gone for a coffee our scores were up...

She came 4th with 66.67% which is one of her best marks in an affiliated Prelim, and definitely a good warm up for the Areas next week... The comments were: "Willing and forwards showing much to like. When she is able to carry herself with lighter forehand she will get the highest marks."

So, an hour later I got her out for the Novice (complete with spurs as a practice for next week) and warmed her up for 30 mins which was just about the right amount of time. She felt a lot more up in her outline, but was tiring a little to the end but she has only been worked for shorter periods due to her abscess still healing over.

Hubby came and took her boots off and went into the viewing, asking me how she was going. "She is being quite quiet," was my reply

Just before we were due to go in, she was having a bit of a look at some pink jump wings in the corner that she had passed dozens of times. I put my leg on and tapped her up with the whip and she completely exploded. She put her head in between her legs and just bucked and bucked

Mid buck I heard my number being called, so got her head up and walked into the arena. After that she did a really nice test. She was a little on the forehand, but this is a working progress... she came 2nd with 63.10% (but the judge is a renowned tough marker so I was expecting a much lower mark to be honest - 1st was only on 64%) and the comments, "Lovely paces - now needs to take more weight behind and lighten in the forehand. At the moment, balance too much on the shoulders." I thought these comments were spot on, but I was pleased she got a 7 for her paces and a lovely comment too

Thats great, well done. No problem with going to the areas with a warm up like that. Just go out and enjoy it. You will have great fun.

Thanks you... the firemen were there in my mind

I had an absolutely fantastic lesson today too with my trainer... She basically told me that I was letting Grace fall onto her shoulders and that she was more than capable of carrying herself now. We did about 15 minutes of exercises, and then WOW!!!

I had the best ride on her that I have ever had... she was up in front of me, sitting back and really working from behind. So I have another lesson on Friday before the Areas on Saturday

Wow, thats fab news, been waiting for your report! Really pleased she is going so well - at least she got the explosion out of her system before she went into the test!! Good luck for next weekend x

Thanks Lisa... I was really pleased with the way she behaved on Saturday, especially as she stayed in the trailer for almost two hours while I watched the rest of the class.

Then today's lesson was just something else
