We survived!
We had our first ever Novice tests today which I was really dreading but we did them and I even enjoyed it!
We phoned for our times Friday evening and found that we had P13 at 9:03am and our last test was N25 at 3:26 so we decided to knock the first test on the head and aim to do the two middle tests- P14 and N21. If there was any energy left we'd give N25 a go as well.
So we left the yard and arrived in time to do P14 but they managed to get us from one ring straight into the other without having to break so we decided to do both the prelim tests afterall.
Both prelim tests went ok, felt average but quite nice so I was happy with that. Had an hour and a half until the N21 so went and chilled out and had something to eat/drink.
I wasn't familiar with N21 so had it called and he went quite well, I was so relieved heading up the centre line at the end and so happy that the test had been totally uneventful, no napping, spooking or anything- I was chuffed!
Results came back for the two prelims and we'd had
P13 6th 64.58% (and our first ever 8!)
P14 5th 63.75%
Novice 21 we weren't placed but were only a few percent behind on 64.50 % with all 6s and 7s
I was so pleased!
We were ready to finish then but the other person I had travelled down with wanted to stay and do her N25 and we'd paid for it so we decided to have a go.
It was a smaller class only 12 in it so off we went and gave it a go. We had 63.60%, an 8
and came 3rd!
It might seem odd that I am so shocked and pleased but it's with good reason... last year at the same festival we attempted our first dressage tests ever P7 and P13- we had 46% and 51.46% respectively.
shameful!
We also did P14 about 2 months ago and had 55% so I'm really pleased with the improvement in such a short period of time. Amazing what a difference it makes having an experienced dressage trainer
Sorry it's so self indulgent; i'm just genuinely shocked and chuffed that my cob donkey did us so proud today
