How many ways can I try & get the Buster collar off!!!

Poor Amy had to go to the vets last night for an emergency op to remove debris from a wound, flush it out & stitch it - she had been crashing about through the woods as usual & had run into something :( she now has a few stitches & a drain in the wound so she has to wear a collar until Friday - and she HATES it!

Luckily the wound already looks good so I am sure she will recover very quickly (she is a tough little thing) but it will be a relief for all of us when Friday is here :D

Depending on where the wound is try either a rigid neck brace or the kong inflatable collar I think it's called a moon collar. My lily can break a buster collar in under 2 mins!!!!

Glad to hear that the wound already looks good, fingers crossed for that Amy continues to recover quickly.

Some years ago, I saw some "bad" photos on the internet, and ever since, every now and then when I'm out walking with my bitches, thoughts pops up in my head like e.g. 'What if one of them impaled themselves on that twig there', 'Oh, please don't play tug-of-war with that twig - it may break and you can get sticks in your mouth'... It usually ends with that I have to tell myself, that I can't protect them against everything.

It would have to be a rigid neck brace, the wound is at the top of her front leg (the front of the elbow joint if that makes sense?) She has settled down now thankfully, but if she does start stressing I will go back to the vets & get a neck brace, thanks for the tip :)

Thanks FL :) I know just what you mean, Amy is the worst for spending her whole walk crashing through the undergrowth so it isn't surprising this has happened and I always tend to worry about her On the other hand she is totally miserable if I walk her on a lead, so I think I would rather risk it and let her enjoy herself hugely every walk :D

Greyhounds are a nightmare for getting wounded incredibly easily but I am sure she will heal quickly and possibly won't even have a scar :)
