It was a glorious morning and I was so surprised by how warm it was. After warming Mr D up we moved on to an exercise which I found really helpful and seemingly very simple. Basically a turn down the centre line with a downwards transition followed by an upwards transition. I started with the walk/halt /walk. then trot/walk/trot, canter/ trot /canter and lastly canter/walk/ canter. (could have done trot/halt/trot as well!) Just a few steps of the lower pace and a turn either to the left or the right back onto the short side so I could make a right turn or a left turn back onto the centre line. It really does test just about everything, just making an accurate turn onto the C line and staying straight is a good test in itself without thinking about the rhythm and contact etc. It also made Mr D quite buzzy, which I rather like. I do struggle to sit on his big trot so I got the wrong lead in canter/trot/canter as I'd lost my balance and wasn't clear enough with my canter aid tbh I found the canter/walk/canter so much easier. Good exercise all round.

Sounds good.
I love all these different exercises, my pony seems to too. Do you do the whole centre line from A to C or turn to the side at different places? (we do a similar 'through the gears' at random places round the track as part of warmup, Fellboy gets quite buzzy.)

It's a 20 x 40 and I do the whole C line whilst trying to stay straight.

Sounds tricky but a fun one to try!

I think I have a video of me in a recent lesson saying "bye bye centre line" as we drifted far far away from it when I was changing my stick over, whoops!
