Toe Dragging....

Is there any reaons why horses do this?

My loan horse has no shoes on his back feet (being done!)
and when we're out hacking on the road and when hes in his field he drags his toes badly (not all the time).. ive also noticed hes actually wearing them away so his back toes are almost straight across as opposed to round.

My horse was doing this so i spoke to my vet who carried out xrays etc and it turned out that he had Bone Spavin in both hocks (The xrays showed that the 3rd joints in the hock had fused).

I think if your really worried get your vet to check your horse out.

uh oh... feel bad about scroogie! He drags his toes all the time, squares off his backs all the time. then again he has truely horrible legs: (nice photo when you first see it but look at the legs)

My farrier rounds the toe of his hind shoes to offer mine protection to prevent this. Another horse I rode did it as you went down steep hills. -Never did it out hunting as he pranced about too much to be lazy.

Mine drags her hind toes and it's linked to sacroiliac problems.

How did you find out about the sacroliac problems?
