Toed out/splayed foot

Following from my last post-I have just spoke to the owner some more, instead of the term- foot turned out, she said its simply toed out/splayed foot... and really nothing to worry about? What would you do?

IMO, splayed feet are certainly something to worry about. Are you hoping to loan long-term or just to have some fun for a while? If you won't get attached, and will give him back if problems arise then I'd say its worth the risk for a loan, but permanently, I'd run a mile from bad feet. When I was looking for a horse last (to buy, though) I saw two nice horses who I said no to straight away because their feet weren't good. I've had three horses with bad feet and it is so miserable and frustrating. If you're not sure, take pictures of the feet and ask what your farrier thinks. If he/she says no, listen!

my welsh is splay footed,both front feet. she stands at ten to two ! Have had her 4 years and she has done it all, shows,pony club, long distance,schooling etc etc. Never been lame in that 4 years and farrier has never mentioned it.
 
Ive just spoke to farrier and he said he shoes alot of horses with splayed feet, and he doesnt normally find any problems of them having problems. All sounds great but just found out the horse isnt actually 2 hours away, hes actually 5-6 hours away, far too far to travel i think.

Even if the horse was close enough i would suggest letting the farrier see it. there is a major difference between a splay (which by the way would be trimmed out so shouldnt even be apparent if the horse is seeing a farrier regularly) and a horse that turns out. Like i said in my last post i would advise against taking on a horse like this. they brush at the best case and worse case is bone and ligment damage etc
